35th Wedding Anniversary Invitations - Inspire Weddings & Marriage Magazine
35 years of marriage and that smile! That is what it's all about.
Last week, I shared the exciting news that a styled editorial I did with the amazing Allyson Ward is featured in the latest issue of Inspire Weddings & Marriage Magazine. As of today, the fall issue with our editorial and the article I wrote (!) is available in 10 southern states at Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million. It's even available online here.
The whole piece in the magazine is called "A Million Tiny Moments" and is focused on the incredible, true love story of my mentor, Elisabeth Benfey and her husband, Philip. The editorial celebrates 35 years of marriage, with an emphasis on all the little, sometimes even ordinary, moments that make a love story.
Today, I'm sharing one of the components of the feature - wedding anniversary party invitations I designed to fit the Benfeys' story. Focused on those "million tiny moments," the entire piece uses expected and unexpected mosaics to visually tell that story of their marriage.
The invitation suite plays with the idea of mosaic, in the form of the envelope liner with vintage botancial illustrations and the jagged wood-burned accent piece featuring the Benfeys' initial. It even comes outside to play with illustrated detail to accompany calligraphy on the coral envelope.
But the suite goes further than just a mosaic-theme, there's subtle storytelling going on specific to both Elisabeth and Philip. Elisabeth is a filmmaker and Philip is an accomplished molecular biologist. So, the invitation itself is a hand-cut paper sleeve with a vellum insert, emulating both a film strip and the feel of a microscope slide.
It reads like an experience, inviting the guest to move through each panel the way one would through film slides:
"As we celebrate 35 years"
"of tiny moments that have written our love story"
"We invite you join us
for an anniversary dinner
in the garden of our home"
The wood-burned rectangle with a "B", while beautiful and unexpected, it's also included to subtly allude to the Benfeys' latest project in life together: the building of their dream home.
You can even spot microscope slides transformed into something beautiful, featuring the vintage botancial illustrations, and bound with copper metal tape.
This invitation suite is just one way we enjoyed designing pieces to celebrate the Benfeys' story. I invite you to check out the issue of Inspire Weddings & Marriage Magazine to see more and see the work of our absolutely incredible vendors!
