What a year it's been! 2014 with Greatest Story
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!
This has been just an absolutely amazing year! Here are just a few of my favorite moments from 2014 with Greatest Story Creative.
In January, after months of debate and soul searching, I took the very scary leap to go full-time with Greatest Story. I made the decision officially on January 25 by turning down a wonderful job offer. In the process, I learned two major things: 1) the truth will set you free and 2) sometimes you have to say no to something good, so you can say yes to something greater.
My first full-time month was fun and challenging - including consulting projects, designing Sesame Street Birthday Invitations, crafting an official business plan, and hosting a blog giveaway.
I began a months-long journey of designing updated websites and branding for local restauranteurs with Jujube in Chapel Hill, NC and their brand-new restaurant (in development at the time) Juju in Durham. Jujube's website debuted a few months later, followed by Juju's this December when it opened to the public.
Greatest Story got its first part of an office space when my husband and I moved to our first NC apartment together. I designed this guestbook as a gift to our wonderful hosts and dear friends who let us stay with them while we got our feet for a few months.
Gus and I took a vacation to Walt Disney World! It was a wonderful, relaxing time that prepared me for an epic collaboration: the shoot for our Inspire Weddings & Marriage Magazine feature I did with Allyson Ward at Tailored Occasions.
June was a busy month for Greatest Story Weddings! Celebrating at Katie and Will's wedding, I actually met a few wonderful couples that went on to become clients later this year.
Greatest Story welcomed its first international client with a lovely couple in England that I created Save the Date magnets for!
August was exciting with my first bridal show- The NotWedding / aka The Big Fake Wedding in Charlotte. I designed a watercolor invitation suite and debuted the Love Story Art Canvas, inspired by a real love story of the couple featured in the event- Terra and Daniel.
I had an amazing consult with business guru and author Richie Norton that became a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with him to help businesses better tell their story. Can't wait to share more on this next year.
November was a blur of awesome, meeting tons of new people and collaborating with friends. A major highlight was attending the Southern Weddings Launch Party with a few of these amazing people below!
I enjoyed the official opening of Juju Asian Tapas + Bar in Durham, NC! What a thrill it was to see a brand I helped shape with written copy and strategy in collaboration with designer Alisa Benfey. Gus and I have already eaten nearly the entire menu and can't wait to go back to celebrate his birthday in January. Oh, and on the weddings front, our New Year's Eve Wedding Styled Shoot was featured just yesterday in Wedding Chicks!
And there's so much more to come in 2015! Greatest Story's first office, more gifts, more businesses, more weddings, and events, and so much more to learn and do.
Wishing you an epic year this year and thank you so much to all that played a part in the amazing journey that was this year. Couldn't have made any of this happen without you!
