Grow Without Social Media: The Personal Move Worth Your Time This Week
Establish Yourself® Podcast | Episode 68
Debating what to do for marketing this week? Can’t stand the thought of writing another LinkedIn post?!
So many coaches, consultants, and service professionals are doing what they think they’re supposed to do: posting regularly, trying to stay visible, tweaking their messaging, and hoping that if they keep showing up online, more opportunities will come.
But sometimes, even after all that effort, things still feel slow.
Fewer referrals than you expected.
Not enough conversations.
Not enough traction.
Not enough momentum.
So it’s easy to start wondering:
Do I need a better strategy?
A more polished funnel?
More content?
But in this episode, I offer a simpler perspective.
Sometimes the problem is not your offer.
Sometimes it is not your message.
Sometimes it is not that you need more marketing.
Sometimes people just do not know what is new with you.
The Real Problem: People Can’t Refer What They Don’t Know (or Remember) About You!
If you’ve been building something new behind the scenes, refining your services, shifting your focus, or getting clearer on the kind of clients you want, it is easy to assume people already know.
Especially if you’ve mentioned it once or twice.
Especially if you’ve posted about it online.
Especially because you are thinking about your business all the time.
But other people are not.
And when people do not know what you offer, what has changed, or what you are excited about right now, they cannot:
refer you
hire you
connect you to opportunities
keep you top of mind
That is where so many missed opportunities happen.
A Simple Marketing Moves That Works in Any Season
In this episode, I share one of the easiest and most effective business concepts I come back to again and again: Do They Know What I Know?
The idea is simple:
Before you assume something is not working, ask whether the right people even know about it yet.
This is not about pitching people.
It is not about blasting an announcement.
And it is definitely not about sounding salesy.
It is about making a short, personal update part of how you stay connected.
Let people know what is new.
Tell them what you are building.
Share what you are excited about.
Then ask what is new with them too.
That is what makes this such a powerful move.
It creates awareness and strengthens relationships at the same time.
What “Do They Know What I Know?” Makes Possible
When you make this kind of outreach part of your business rhythm, several things start to shift:
People understand what is new in your business
Referrals become more likely
Conversations feel warmer and more natural
Opportunities can come from people already in your world
You stop relying only on social media to stay visible
This is not about doing more for the sake of doing more.
It is about making sure the right people know how to think of you, talk about you, and connect others to your work.
